CODI 2007

CODI 2007 Conference, Pittsburgh, PA

I want to pick your brains. How do you do what you do; what do you do well; what do you want to improve? I'm interested not only in Horizon-related issues, but also general acquisition/receiving/cataloging/processing ones.

I enjoy those random conversations at conferences - a luncheon discussion, a chat while waiting for a session to begin - and get from them sometimes an idea to try, sometimes commiseration with a problem. I was hoping to arrange something a little less random though. Rather than a formal session at the conference, what about a table at one of the lunches? Anyone interested?

All 3 of us are coming: Stephanie John, Mark Evans and Vince Molosky. Will be very interested in such informal sessions. We could share our experience with Google Analystics...We, too, have discovered the joys of serendipitous learning. First rule: there are no dumb questions. Everyone's a noob in some area!

Am attending as Head of Technical Services for Westfield Memorial Library (Westfield, NJ), as a first time CODI attendee, so would be interested in formal, table at one of the lunches or evening gathering. Since have been in position 5 months, need to know many things and seem to have become comfortable with Classic Dynix but constantly learning from everyone. Would be most interested in groups or persons who have done the transition from Classic Dynix to Horizon and/or Symphyony and their comments and advice.

Hi Fairlie,

Karen George, our assistant director and I will be at the conference and would love to join the lunch. I'm a fairly new technical services director--and one who is not a cataloger. We've been looking at ways to improve the workflow and have written a workflow analysis into our RFP for a new system. (We will begin migration to Unicorn/Symphony as soon as the contract is finalized.)

Looking forward to picking everyone's brain,
Gair

I would like to join the discussion too if there is still room. I'm currently in the process if mapping out the workflow and designing a new workflow Tech. Services. Would love to hear how others do things.

OK Everyone - I've landed us a table for Thursday's lunch. - Keep an eye on this thread for additional information. I need to find out how many chairs are at a table so we don't over or under book it. The table will be reserved and have some sort of sign on it that says "Tech. Services Managers" or something very much like that. Just to be safe I'd like to announce a RSVP to those watching this thread. Please respond to my regular e-mail address to confirm your seat at this table. Chris Hauser - chauser@weber.edu
